Famous Couples | Penguin Books
Project Brief
The challenge was to create a front and back cover along with a spine for the “Penguin Book” company using a famous couple as the story. The goal was to create a visual for the cover that symbolizes both characters without physically showing them as well as connecting them through the elements. This project was to be done using simplistic visuals and could only contain the colors from the Penguin Books logo.
Process
I started by sketching a variety of thumbnails that represent Bonnie and Clyde individually and as a couple.
To complement this I used a western style font for the title and a traditional sans serif font called Mrs. Eaves for subheadings and the book description.
As I refined these sketches I ended up deciding that the use of a bullet combined with a lipstick could symbolize each individual.
